My Three Secret Weapons For Sales Success

sales Oct 19, 2017

Article written by Michael Miller.

My Facebook feed right now is filled with multi-millionaires who, out of the goodness of their heart are giving away all their secrets.

Bless them, because all they need is my credit card number.

Sales is the same game, just buy my book and all of my secrets are yours.

Sales is about habits, not secrets, but there are three things that I rarely see other people doing, that have been very good to me. Michael, you say, why give away these secrets for FREE? Why? Because I know you won’t do them anyway.

1 - I Work Everyday

Everyone wants to talk about Work Life Balance, but the truth is, I like to work.

I go exercise every morning, and by 7 am I’m working on my business. I work till I take a break in the afternoon, then I jump right back into it.

Why?

Because I love what I do. It would be strange on a weekend to sit around and do nothing. When I was trying to learn guitar, I didn’t practice 5 days a week, I practiced every day

It’s the same with my yoga routine. Taking a day off wouldn’t suit my mission. My ADHD doesn’t really allow me to sit and watch TV for more than 20 minutes, and work is a blessing in my life. So I do it every day.

I’m not working myself to death, but I’m also embracing my love of work.

My dad retired at 55, and it wasn’t a good thing. He was set for money, but he had nothing to fill the hours of the day. I plan to work on my business every day I get on this earth.

2 - I Meditate Everyday

My brain is a round file cabinet full of information.

Every day I’m reading books, listening to podcasts, watching videos that my buddy Jack Kosakowski sends me about sales or business.

Meditation allows me to release all that, and come back to a blank sheet. I call it, Flipping White Paper.

I turn off my phone, pull out the mat and allow my brain to do nothing for 20 to 40 minutes.

Like the yoga, I’m not great at meditation, my brain is always trying to get me off the mat (You Forgot To Send That Bid!!!) but as the years progress, I get better at doing nothing, for a great reason, I need that release.

3 - I Have Great Friendships Within the Sales World

About once a week, I get Derek Wyszynski on the phone for a chat. We ping each other about silly stuff we see on LinkedIn.

20% is about business; the rest is just thought provoking ideas, or silly memes. I have curated my feed on LinkedIn to really give me only the people who speak to my personal mission.

I have several other friendships within the business world, and these mean the world to me. We speak of our missions, and get advice, tips and tricks, and generally just provide a platform for discussing what we are doing.

Even if it’s just a laugh, these friendships provide the support I need to continue doing what I need to do.

I also volunteer 20% of my time to struggling salespeople, giving advice, trying to learn from them. People gave me this gift, and I’m trying to give it to others. I have lots of friends, but these friendships, in particular, give me the certain power that lets me perform at a higher rate than my peers.

The truth about sales is that it’s a long game. I’m not here to make a million dollars and sit on a beach. Truth is I would be bored out of my skull in a day or two. I have three goals in life. Be a good human being, be a good guitar player and to be the best salesperson I can.

They might all be the same goal.
